Derby Talking Newspapers

On Wednesday, 18th November, George Houlden Derby Lions Sight Officer and Dave Bower Vice President visited the Derby Talking Newspaper office. While they handed over a cheque for £500 to the Treasurer Geoff Halsey and Chairman David Sheffield for the purchase of much needed cassette tapes.

Derby Talking Newspapers have over 300 clients on their books and as well as distributing tapes of the local paper also send out tapes of the Saga magazine and several other publications.

The money came through the collection of unwanted spectacles which are sent to Chichester Lions Club who process them for reuse overseas. Sometimes money is raised by the sale of gold frames and £500 of this was passed on to Derby since we had sent over 7000 spectacles for recycling.
